Decisions, decisions...
We're all settled in CT! Finally. It's been a helluvah move, but I'm glad it's over with. (For now.... at least, until March, when we get to move again, but that's a whole 'nother topic)
Since being here, we've had to make some decisions. It seems like the theme of my life at the current moment. Here are just a few:
1. Cable or no cable?
We opted for no cable. I couldn't justify spending the money, just to watch the same stuff we can get online for *free* (my favorite four letter "f" word) the next day. I'm a little bummed that I can't feed my Jersey Shore addiction instantaneously, but either way, I'll get my GTL fix!
2. Where to spend the holidays?
This is such a stupid white peoples problem. I mean, after all the time away from our families, I'm lucky to be worrying about whose house to visit! We've decided that Christmas at my parents' house is a big deal, so we'll be doing that, which means Thanksgiving at my mother-in-law's (or possibly inviting her down here??).
3. Commissary or ShopRite?
I've decided to do both. ShopRite doubles coupons- hooray! In fact, today I bought 2 boxes of Luigi's italian ices and toothpaste for *free* (there's that "f" word again)... which means I guess I didn't buy it, ha. Overall, the commissary is the best deal and has better produce, but I will still be clipping tons of coupons and using my ShopRite frequent buyer card.
4. Preschool or hourly care?
This has been a big decision for me. LB is ready for school, but just about every preschool around here is full-time (I'm looking for two or three days a week). The base offers it at $600 a month (omg, are you freaking kidding me??), and I'm leery about the local stuff, after reading lots of bad reviews. Since LB is ahead cognitively, the benefit of preschool would be socialization, so the hourly care definitely fits the bill (although I really wish he could go to a school). I plan on dropping both kids off several hours a week, to get workouts and grocery shopping done. We'll see how this plans works out...
5. Be a stubborn idiot or not?
Apparently, I've made the decision to be a stubborn idiot. Here's why: I slammed my hand in the lazy susan in our kitchen. My ring finger went numb and my entire arm felt like it was being stabbed. Did I go to the doctor right away? Nope. Did I go later that week? Nope. Did I even go a week later? Nope. I went over a week after it happened, and only because I still have numbness in that finger. For a musician, I'm pretty stupid to have not gone right away. It's not broken (I just "banged the hell out of it", according to the doc), but if something were seriously wrong, I could have ended my most passionate hobby, and possibly destroyed my music career. So stupid. You can bitchslap me now, I deserve it!
6. Go to NH every weekend or not?
A surprisingly tough question. I want the boys to spend time up there, but they are both at an age where it's tough to be around them (harsh, but true... after all, one's three and one's almost two). Also, the drive is not long, relatively speaking, but it feels long. I think we are going to have to choose very carefully which events we can attend up there. Going up every weekend is getting to be very tiresome. The decision hasn't been made yet....
So things have been going well here. I'm LOVING being back in New England, humidity and all! Sitting on the front steps, sipping ice water, watching my neighbors bike by, and looking up at this huge, ancient oak tree in our yard makes me feel so at home. I guess I've made another decision- I don't want to leave! :)

1. Facebook or Twitter?
FB!! I have a minor facebook addiction.
2. Hard Tacos or Soft Tacos?
Hard. Hubby prefers soft. So we end up with both.
3. Gardening or crafting?
I like trying both, but neither of those skills are great. I'd prefer to cook and bake.
4. Fruit or vegetables?
Fruit. My kids prefer them, too. We go through a LOT of blueberries in this house!
5. Motorcycle or bicycle?
It depends. Bicycle if it's not a super long trip, then motorcycle for the long rides. I miss my little Virago! :( I still have my bicycle, but someday I'll get another motorcycle.

Top 20 Things I've Learned On Our PCS
20. Highway 50 through Nevada may be iconic, but it is boring.
19. Protein bars on an empty stomach make me nauseated.
18. I am officially allergic to every single state in this nation.
17. A short day in the middle of the trip allows everyone to relax and recharge.
16. And, a short last day is ideal. There's nothing worse than knowing you're almost there, but having to drive another five hours.
15. South Dakota is way more beautiful than I expected it to be.
14. No matter where I go, the northeast always feels like home.
13. A portable DVD player is the way to go when traveling with little kids.
12. Search out the good deals. We stayed at several Comfort Inns, which earned us free nights, and I could apply a discount to the rates.
11. If the first thing your mover says to you is "Alright, let's get this done so I can go home, smoke a fatty, and drink some beers!!", you should probably suck it up and unpack yourself.
10. Not all boxes need to be unpacked.
9. Wall, SD is a very unique stop.
8. Don't go below a third tank of gas in Wyoming. You might go an unexpectedly long way before seeing the next gas station.
7. My husband has some incredible patience.
6. Silver Springs, NV is totally the inspiration for Radiator Springs.
5. Don't break the bank, but make sure you eat some good food. Finding a hair in your chinese after you've been hungry all afternoon is disappointing and gross.
4. Keep a bottle of Febreze in your car. Spray the interior every night before going into your hotel room. You'll thank me later.
3. Missing several weeks of internet access makes you feel like you've missed out on a decade.
2. If you disassemble your furniture, and you are driving to your next duty station, bring the screws with you. It beats searching through boxes just to put your children's beds together.
1. Take the scenic route. It might add a little more time, but it's better than zoning out on the highway for hours.

1. If you could have a private concert with any singer, who would it be? submitted by An Air Force Wife’s Blog
Billy Joel, for sure!
2. Is there anything you do to supplement your family’s income? submitted by Our Life, One Adventure at a Time
Fortunately, we do not have to supplement Hubby's income, but I save us lots of money by searching out deals and using coupons. Since I don't have a job that earns money, I figured I'd do a job that saves it!
3. During your pregnancy (whether past, present, or future), what did you nickname your unborn baby before you knew the sex? submitted by Explosions of Love
We knew their names before they were born, so we just called them that.
4. Have you ever won a blog giveaway? If so what did you win? submitted by Mrs. O’s Life
Nope. There are some that I really wanted, but I had fun just entering.
5. If I looked into your refrigerator right now, what would I find? submitted by Married to the Army
Not a single thing! We just moved in, but are staying at my parents' house in NH, so the fridge is completely empty.

NH Girl not Displaced
Holy crap, it's 4:45am and I'm awake after driving across the country for 8 days???
Anyway, we made it safe and sound on Friday! I know I waited until after the weekend to let you all know, but we've been busy. Today, Hubby and I are going down to CT to see the house and pick up the keys. Someday, our stuff will be delivered, but for the rest of July, we'll be up here in NH at my parents' place.
We already took the boys out on the boat- LB loved it, although he nearly drowned falling off the dock without a life jacket on. JC was such a trooper, going the whole day without a nap, and yours truly went waterskiing and kneeboarding, two things I haven't done in nearly a decade. I lost my balance the first time up on skis and forgot how craptastic those atomic wedgies are after you fall into the water, ha.
I took tons of pics of our roadtrip, although you will have to excuse the fact that I hardly took any after Ohio. My camera had slid between the passenger seat and the door, d'oh! But I've done the Ohio to NH drive several times, so it's same old, same old for me.
(Btw, I know people say the west is beautiful, but it is so. Friggin. Boring.)
Anyway, I'll post some pics soon! Good to be back "home"!!!!!!!! :)
