Tomorrow, the boys and I leave the house and head up north. Hubby will be here alone while the movers pack our stuff next week. I'm having some anxiety about it, and I really don't want to give up control of the move to Hubby.
He's not incompetent and he's not stupid, but for some reason, I just want to be here when things are done. I like doing things my way (shocker, I know), and I have a feeling that our bed linens will be used as packing material, and that they won't have been washed before packing, and that my stuff will end up scattered among several boxes while his is neatly packaged... I don't like it. I don't like not being here. I don't like not having a say in how the day is and how we prepared. And I certainly wish I was here in case THC guy shows up, so I could rip that guy a new one!
I suppose this is why I'm alright as a milspouse. I can do things on my own, and a lot of the time, I'd rather do things alone because then it gets done my way. But it's biting me in the butt right now because I really want to know where every little thing in this house is going. I feel like I'm going to be so lost when we get our stuff in WA.
I am thankful that Hubby has a head on his shoulders and that he will take care of our stuff... but he can't even load the dishwasher in an efficient way (if you have a small kitchen, you need to have a system, and since I do just about everything in the kitchen, it's my system)! I know I should stop whining, but I can't possibly be the only person who gets nervous when someone else is responsible for moving house.... right?
... After rereading this, I sound like Monica on Friends.....

When Aaron got hurt, I refused to leave him, even to go pack up the apartment. Instead, I gave a POA to a dear, good friend and (gasp) let her manage the ARMY packing my stuff up. God only knows what I'm going to find when we finally have a place and unpack all the stuff... probably 18 months after it was all done.

i'm the same way. i can't stand that something might have been put somewhere other than where i would put it. and lets face it, we all love Monica from friends....and she has a spectacularly clean house :)
DUDE! No matter how wonderful the guy - they have no idea how to detail pack or like you said, load a dishwasher properly. They were made to haul shit, not pack it.
I totally totally TOTALLY get you.
I completely agree - I could never let someone else (even beloved Hubs) pack my stuff. It would drive me crazy :)
