I'd rather be stabbed in the front

Yes, I'm pretty flaky when it comes to things. I admit it. I'm a procrastinator and sometimes I can't call back right away. But I think I'm a good friend, which is why I'm getting very angry with some of my "friends".

Listen, don't friend me on Facebook if you won't write back. Don't tell me to call you if you never call me. Don't pretend that you've been too busy when all it takes is a quick minute to say "Hey, sorry I haven't gotten back to you. I'll try calling you soon." I'd rather know who my friends really are than find out about it after I've invested energy into the friendship. I'd rather see it coming instead of getting blindsided by a close friend who turns out to be just another fair-weather friend.

I think you know who you are. And I've given up. There's only so much I can do until it's your turn to do something. Friendship is a two-way street, and yes, sometimes there are lane closures (aka, life circumstances that keep us alienated from people we don't want to be), but ultimately that lane opens up again. If it doesn't, then it's impossible to take that road, right? So to my fair-weather "BFFs", see ya. I've got enough going on than to worry about why I haven't heard from you.
