1.What is a weird/funny superstition that you have?
I eat sandwiches in an extremely orderly fashion; left to right, top to bottom. If it's a standard-sized sandwich, four bites across, four rows. If it's a sub, three or four bites across, and each row has the same number of bites, regardless of how thick the middle is.... I know, I'm crazy. And that's just the tip of the iceberg- don't get me started on apples.
2.What are your hopes and dreams for the years AFTER the military? After all, we aren’t in it forever!
Hubby and I want to settle down in the same house for years on end. We are sick of moving!! We want stability for the kids, and maybe even grandkids.
3.Since [this] month is National Apple Month (no really!), I’d probably ask: What is your yummiest apple recipe?
Despite this being the question I submitted, I haven't given much thought to it! But I suppose my go-to apple recipe is for Apple Crisp:
Ingredients:
4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup oats (old-fashioned or quick-cooking are fine, but not instant)
1/3 cup butter
3/4 tsp cinnamon
3/4 tsp nutmeg
How To:
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease bottom and sides of a 8x8 in. square pan with shortening (I've used non-stick spray and it works okay). Spread apples in pan. Mix remaining ingredients and sprinkle over apples. Bake 30 minutes. It's really good served hot with vanilla ice cream, and it makes a yummy breakfast treat.
4.How long have you gone as a military spouse without talking to your husband/wife during service?
Hm. Does email count? If so, about two months. If we count phone calls, then it's more like three months. Face-to-face only and it goes up to over six months. Westpacs on subs are terrible for communication. And that's as the spouse. As a girlfriend/fiance, it's been over a year without face-to-face... sidenote: Anyone remember family grams??
5.I occasionally watch When I was 17… on MTV. So, what was something that was significant about your 17th year of life?
I got into All-State on flute. It was important to me and a great accomplishment, but not much happened my 17th year. My 18th was way more exciting!
