Very frustrated

Potty training is back on. For awhile, we had been letting LB try the potty and not insisting that he give up diapers. After all, he really wasn't getting it so we didn't push the issue. I decided that since he's over 2.5 years old, it was time to get rid of the diapers and just start underwear. I also made the mistake of telling Hubby about it (more on that in a bit).

LB can follow directions. He knows what poop and pee are. He can pull his pants down and up. He has almost all the signs of being ready, except...

he refuses to use the potty.

Now, if I'm not suppose to force him or make a big deal out of the potty, how am I supposed to get him to use it? Bribes don't work, being nice won't work, yelling won't work... I ended up sitting in the bathroom doorway and telling him over and over (and over and over and over) to "sit on the potty". Holy hell, do I need to do that every time? I decided no, and put him back in diapers, chalking it up to the fact that he wasn't ready to be a big boy yet.

Hubby called just after I put him in the diaper. He chided me for giving up too easily and try the underwear again. Maybe he's right, but it really bothered me because:

1) He takes no active part in the potty training, so what makes him think he can tell me how to do it?

2) I gave up too easily?? More like LB gave up too easily. I've been growing gray hairs by the minute trying to get him to use the potty. I definitely didn't "give up". LB's the one who doesn't want to do this.

3) He's in f***ing Seattle. He's not even here! So when I'm at the end of my rope, what am I supposed to do? There's no one to hand the situation to, no one to reinforce what I say (for some reason, LB will listen to me if Hubby's around)... which I guess is stupid- why should I expect him to help anyway if he already has made it very clear that he wants no part in it?

I'm just beyond ready to snap. I'm ready to... I don't know, finish this bottle of Bacardi? Yes, I know I'm supposed to be prepared for a lot of accidents and lot of cleaning up, but when my kid just stands there, letting the pee drip down his leg, then freaks out hysterically when I so much as mention trying to sit on the potty, what the F am I supposed to do?????
